Well, I believe no dentistry is the best dentistry. If we can maintain our own God-given natural teeth in the best shape until we hit 100, people are living to 100 plus these days. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So I am all for just coming in for routine checkups, keeping it easy, everybody’s happy, in and out, you know, just maintain things. That’s what we’re here for. My team does a great job in, like, reminding you for your dental checkups, you know, we’ll text, emails. They sincerely care to get you in. We all know everybody gets busy and a little reminder from the dental team to come in for your cleaning and your annual checks is very helpful. I think we do a good job of that.
Enjoy A Bright Smile With Dental Cleanings & Exams
Our dentists, along with the American Dental Association, recommend that you visit a dental office at least twice a year for a routine dental cleaning and exam. By coming to see us regularly, we can monitor your oral health and provide early treatment for any problems that arise.
If you’re a new patient to Bonita Family Dental, we’ll spend a little extra time with you. Below is what you can expect during your visit:
- We’ll take a complete dental history, so we better understand your oral health.
- A full set of X-rays will be taken so we can check for underlying problems.
- Your hygienist will perform a complete dental exam. We’ll use an iTero scanner to check for hairline fractures in your teeth and a
- VELscope system to detect early signs of oral cancer.
- We’ll give your teeth a thorough cleaning and polishing to remove plaque and tartar.
- Your dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums, and mouth and perform a periodontal screening to check for gum disease.
- We’ll recommend any treatments needed to repair or improve your smile.

Common Questions About General Dentistry
What is general dentistry?
Daily oral hygiene is essential to keeping your mouth clean and healthy. But as important as brushing and flossing are, they aren’t enough on their own to protect your teeth and gums. General dentistry covers a wide range of treatments designed to help you prevent and detect dental problems, so you can keep your oral health on track.
What foods are healthy for my teeth?
Foods that are good for your body also tend to be good for your teeth. This includes fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and calcium-rich foods like cheese. With their high water and fiber content, some fruits and veggies work almost like a toothbrush to clean plaque from teeth. Nuts are a great snack, as they contain minerals that help strengthen tooth enamel and make it more resistant to cavities.
Do I need dental X-rays?
We may recommend dental X-rays to ensure comprehensive oral care. With advancements in technology, digital X-rays are now widely used, offering enhanced safety. They use significantly less radiation compared to traditional X-rays, making them a safer option. Digital X-rays provide detailed images for accurate diagnoses, helping us identify potential issues early on.
